The motor-racing history of Mercedes-Benz is a success story. Whether in the 19th, 20th or 21st century – racing cars made in Stuttgart have always led the field in sporting competition. Countless racing victories – starting with the world's first car race in 1894 and right up to two Formula One world championships in 1998 and 1999 by Mika Häkkinen in a McLaren-Mercedes – were testimony to perfect racing-car technology, the determination of our drivers, sustained development and the teamwork that makes it all possible.

More than 100 years of motorsport history with the Mercedes star document the origins of motor racing and accompany the outstanding developments in technology used in Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
