designo uses only first-class materials for its interior trim. They not only have interesting grains, many of them also have an unusual story behind them. Cinnamora wood trim, for example, is made from camphor wood (cinnamomum camphora), which, until a few years ago, was used chiefly as a source of essential oils. designo treats all of these high-quality raw materials with the respect of a craftsman.
Great feeling, skill and patience are needed to perform this precision work. Our employees bring these qualities to the job as they work with sensitive materials such as wood. They need about eight weeks to produce a trim strip set alone.
The veneer sheets are selected by hand, sorted, etched and lacquered with several clear coats and finally polished. Only after this procedure is the transformation from raw material into a unique designo creation complete.
designo stone trim is fashioned from granite, one of the hardest stones. We start by carefully selecting the best pieces before cutting them into wafer-thin sheets and finishing them according to a patented method. Only then can the granite be used as veneer and shaped as required. The granite veneer has a unique shimmer that changes according to the light and transforms the interior of your Mercedes-Benz into a real eye-catcher. The stone trim is available in designo labrador blue pearl or designo star galaxy for the S-Class Saloon and the SL-Class Roadster.
What could be more enjoyable than listening to a piano recital whilst seated in a Mercedes-Benz? Add to that a lasting visual reminder of the recital – with piano lacquer trim applied with the same meticulous care that goes into creating a grand piano. This finish is available for the CLK-Class, the CLS-Class, the CL-Class and the S-Class.
The SLK-Class Roadster can be optionally customised with leather rather than wood trim for the dashboard, hand brake lever and door handles. The leather designo trim is exclusively available in the colour of the chosen designo leather appointments.
