In the new C-Class you can choose between six different petrol engines. They start off with three 4-cylinder supercharged engines: the C 180 KOMPRESSOR and the C 200 KOMPRESSOR. Thanks to new engine management software and a modified piston profile, output and torque have been increased. For instance, the C 180 KOMPRESSOR delivers 115 kW (156 hp) and maximum torque of 230 Nm. The C 200 KOMPRESSOR produces a magnificent 135 kW (184 hp) and 250 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 9.5 and 8.6 seconds, with a top speed of 223 and 235 km/h respectively.
A special feature distinguishes the third 4-cylinder petrol engine of the C-Class Saloon: thanks to less displacement in the engine, lower weight and improved aerodynamics, the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for the C 180 KOMPRESSOR BlueEFFICIENCY were significantly reduced. This is also due in part to tyres with lower rolling resistance.
C 180 KOMPRESSOR: fuel consumption combined: 7.4–7.8 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 177–185 g/km[2]
C 180 KOMPRESSOR BlueEFFICIENCY: fuel consumption[1] combined: 6.5 l/100km, CO2 emissions[1] combined: 156 g/km[2]
C 200 KOMPRESSOR: fuel consumption combined: 7.6– 8.1 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 180–192 g/km)[2]
Refined power – in the shape of three 6-cylinder powerplants in the C 230, C 280 and C 350. They embody the perfect symbiosis of refinement and fast acceleration. The maximum torque of 245, 300 and 350 Nm respectively is available across a particularly wide engine speed range, ensuring impressive power reserves are on tap in any driving situation.
A further feature of the V6 engines is the exemplary fuel consumption. All thanks to the four variable camshafts with infinitely adjustable control as circumstances necessitate. Consequently, just the right amount of fuel is added as the particular driving situation demands. The C 230 delivers 150 kW (204 hp) and the C 280 170 kW (231 hp). The C 350 even comes with an impressive 200 kW (272 hp). Its acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h of just 6.4 seconds is on a par with a sports car – when it comes to comfort though, it’s in a different league.
All 6-cylinder versions are not particularly economical in terms of fuel consumption – they can incidentally be identified by their sporty twin-pipe exhaust system.
C 230: fuel consumption combined: 9.1–9.3 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 216–222 g/km)[1][2]
C 280: fuel consumption combined: 9.2–9.4 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 219–225 g/km)[1][2]
C 350: fuel consumption combined: 9.7–10.0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 232–239 g/km)[1][2]
